My main problem with the cats is that my husband, Curtis insists on leaving a light on in the living room for them. In spite of my repeated explanations that cats can see in the dark better than we can, and that they probably even like the dark, Curtis will not budge. If I turn it off, he will go down and turn it back on. For the cats.
Luckily, I found a solution that we can all live with, and that will save us some money in the long run. The 7w ZetaLux LED light bulb I just installed will only cost around $2.00 a year in electricity even if we leave it on all night. That’s right - TWO DOLLARS A YEAR! Compared to a regular 60 watt bulb, I’m saving around $15.00 a year. Plus, the LED is going to last a lot longer that a regular bulb, has no mercury like CFLs, AND it doesn’t give off any heat. Not too bad.
Now, if I can just get someone to change the litterbox more often, there might just be peace in the house!
Next week, Curtis and I are installing a radiant barrier in our attic. Unfortunately, Curtis is a pack rat so we have to clean out the attic first. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

]]>So, I’ll be taking baby steps like installing LED lights, using green batteries, beefing up the insulation on my house, and then letting you all know the results. I’m hoping that some of you will be inspired to start living greener, too!
